If you are using an indoor tanning bed to get sun kissed bronzed skin, the most beneficial thing you can do to enhance your tan and speed up the tanning process is to use an indoor tanning lotion. Indoor tanning lotion is not the same as what you may use outdoors under the sun.

The indoor tanning creams and lotions contain special ingredients that are meant to do more then moisturize the skin, they contain ingredients that work with your own skin to start the tanning process fast by promoting the production Melanin in your skin. Some designer tanning lotions contain special bronzers to give the skin an even darker but natural looking tan.

How To Apply Designer Tanning Lotion

  • Before going to the tanning salon you should shower with warm water and use a exfoliating body wash to remove dead skin and impurities. Rinse off completely and leave the skin free of other lotions unless you won't be tanning until hours later. Regardless, avoid scented lotion.
  • After you are in the tanning booth, if you buy tanning stickers to achieve a temporary body art look, put these on before you put any lotion.
  • Begin massaging a generous amount of designer tanning lotion onto your body starting with your arms and legs. Apply using circular motions.
  • Do not apply to the face. Unless you are using a facial tanning lotion meant specifically for your face, do not apply tanning lotions as they tend to contain oils that can clog pores. The chemicals can also cause a reaction on the sensitive surface of your skin and can increase the odds of a breakout. If you do choose to apply tanning lotion to your face, wash it off with a mild soap after tanning.
  • Use a towel to remove any excess on your skin especially on your hands, elbows, knees and feet.
  • Do not shower for at least 3 to 5 hours after tanning. When the skin is still damp apply a clean fragrance free lotion such as Lubriderm
There is a huge variety of tanning lotions to choose from. Start out with a tan lotion that is meant to build a base tan. After a few sessions, switch to a designer tanning lotion such as Matahari Golden Diva that contains special bronzers to darken the skin even faster as well as anti-aging ingredients.
