How To Bake a Colorful Cake

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Why settle with a boring mono-color cake when you can easily have a more exciting and tastier looking colorful cake. Here's how you can bake it in three special steps.

You Will Need

1 Box ready to bake classic cake mix
1 Egg (thoroughly beaten)
1/2 Cup vegetable oil
2 Tablespoon Red Cherry Flavor Jello Powder
2 Tablespoon Lemon Jello Powder
2 Tablespoon Lime Jello Powder
2 Tablespoon Blueberry Jello Powder
1 Can Buttercream Frosting
1 Can Ready to Use White Icing
2 Drops Blue Food Coloring
2 Drops Yellow Food Coloring
1 packet candy sprinkles
Butter (for greasing)
4 6x2 Cake Pans
1 Large Mixing Bowl
An Electric Hand-mixer

Getting Started

Gather all the ingredients and your baking tools in the kitchen. You can also start preheating the oven in order to save time.

Step 1

Pour the classic cake mix in the mixing bowl. Add the recommended amount of water and start mixing at slow speed. When the powder has been completely dissolved, add the beaten egg and vegetable oil and continue mixing at medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes.

After mixing, split the batter in 4 parts and pour into separate cake pans. Add the flavored jello powder into each batter (red cherry in one, blueberry in another and so forth). Mix each colored batter until the jello has been completely dissolved. Put the cake pans in the oven and bake for 20 to 30 minutes.

Step 2

Remove the baked base cakes from the oven. You need to wait at least 30 minutes to thoroughly cool the cakes. While cooling the cakes, you can start preparing the frosting. Add color to your frosting using the blue and yellow liquid food coloring. Once the colored cakes and frosting are ready, you can now start layering. Layer the cakes in any which way you want but make sure to spread a good amount of frosting in between layers.

Step 3

The last step is putting icing on colorful cake. Spread a good amount of icing on top of the cake. You can create unique icing designs by using an icing bag or a cake decorating tube. After setting the icing, get a fistful of candy sprinkles and sprinkle them on the cake. Your very own delicious and colorful cake is now ready.
