So you want to become an early riser. That's great! There are many great benefits of waking up early. Here's a list of things that can help you on your way:
- Find the right reasons - In order to become an early riser you have to find the reason for doing so. This reason will pull you and excite you when you most want to sleep a few minutes or hours longer. There are a few great benefits of becoming an early bird and a few of them can be to exercise, meditate or to reduce stress. Find the right reason for you and you will make it much easier for you to get out of bed.
- Place your alarm clock far away from the bed - Even if you have all the great reasons for waking up early, it can be hard to actually get up and out of bed when the alarm clock goes off. And if you are like most people you love to hit the snooze button over and over again. To disable you from using the snooze button you have to place your alarm clock (or smartphone) so far away from the bed that you have to get out of your bed in order to turn it off. When you have turned it off, you are already up and might as well start your day just like you planned.
- Go to bed earlier every day - If you are going to wake up earlier than you are used to, you obviously have to go to bed earlier. And you have to do it every day or you will become to tired and talk yourself into sleeping a bit longer the next day. Once you skipped one day of waking up early, it's easier to skip the next day, and the day after that.
- Develop the habit - Like anything, waking up early gets easier if you are doing it every day. Research shows that it takes about 21 days to implement a new habit into your daily life. That means you have to struggle, be disciplined and strong during the first 21 days of your new morning routine. But after those 21 days, it will almost be as easy as brushing your teeth.
And one of the most important things is just to get going. Set your alarm clock tomorrow and get started right away, why wait? The sooner you start, the sooner you will start to benefit from waking up early and start to see improvements in your life.
