How To Buy The Best Gaming Laptop Computer: Your Gamer Laptop System Must Include These Features

By | Jan 7, 2012 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

This article is Part 3 of an article discussing what you must know to buy the best gaming laptop computer, including which features your gamer laptop system must have. Part 1 of this article can be found here: How To Buy The Best Gaming Laptop. Part 2 of this article can be found here: The Top Sound Features That Your Gamer Laptop Must Have. These articles should be read together as the first part of the article includes speed-related considerations, while the second part of this article discusses vital sound components of your gaming system. Complementing the first two parts, this part of the article discusses image clarity factors, as well as a few other gaming elements you will need to get the best gaming experience out of your laptop computer.

The Best Gaming Laptops Have Tremendous Image Clarity

Gaming Laptop Graphics Card

It goes without saying that if your graphics card cannot keep up with the game you are playing, you might as well turn the laptop off and go read a book on your Amazon Kindle, or play some Angry Birds on your iPhone. As such, if you want the best gamer laptop, you need to ensure that it has a high-speed advanced graphics card that can stream all of the glorious images onto your gaming screen (which, by the way, will be discussed below) for your brain to soak in. As with the full-featured sound card, you want this feature to be included at the time you purchase your gaming machine as it is impractical to think you will (or can) install it yourself at a later date. Look for a gaming laptop graphics card that is equipped with its own video memory. That will help ensure top image performance such that image quality will not detract from your gaming experience.

Gaming Laptop Monitor

Similarly, since you are buying a laptop computer for gamers that includes a top-notch graphics card, you will need to make sure that the monitor onto which it is displayed is capable of capturing the images sent its way. Therefore, the best gaming computer laptops are made with large and quick responding monitors. These gamer monitors broadcast high-resolution images onto LCDs, that get taller, wider, and thinner with each generation of laptops produced. The key, however, is to find a laptop for gamers that also meets the needs of someone that travels around a lot: portability. If you have ever lugged around a large screen laptop computer, you will no doubt agree with me that the two pounds that it actually weighs seems significantly heavier. With that said, if you do find yourself travelling around a lot and really only want to buy a lightweight computer as a result, you can plug your laptop into a big-screen high definition television as an alternative. Of course, that option really depends on whether your destination has a large screen television in which to attach it to!

The Best Gaming Laptops Have Additional Features That Ensure A Quality Gaming Experience

Gaming Laptop Cooling System

If you have listened to the advice provided in this three part article, you are considering a gaming laptop computer that has: (a) an extremely fast and powerful microprocessor; (b) tons of memory; (c) a high-speed graphics card; (d) a large, fast-spinning hard drive, (e) a full-featured sound card; and (f) a large, high-resolution monitor. Of course, the thing that, unfortunately, comes with all of that extra power is heat. A great deal of heat! We are talking enough heat to literally destroy the smooth operations of the system you have painstakingly constructed. If you want to avoid this melt-down, a major feature that your gaming laptop system must have is an appropriate cooling system. These systems vary depending on which manufacturer you are considering. However, in all events, such cooling system includes, but is not limited to, fans and passive heat-transfer devices, just to name a few.

Gaming Laptop Battery

As you play your games on the computer laptop, literally every aspect of your gaming system draws upon your battery. Accordingly, because each of these items are “high-powered” items aimed at making the speed, sound, and image quality the best they can possibly be, the gaming laptop battery typically does not last as long as a standard laptop battery. Eventually technology will remedy this gaming-related issue but we are not there yet. As a result, two alternatives include purchasing an extra battery to serve as a back-up, or simply plugging your machine into an AC power source when you launch into your gaming world. Either way, if you do not plan ahead, you will surely be disappointed when you get that warning that your power supply is running low. Do not complaint that I did not warn you!

Gaming Laptop Internet Connection

While computer games were originally designed such that the user was locked away in his or her room for hours (and sometimes days) at a time, with little to no contact with the outside world, today’s gaming environment is drastically different. Users commonly participate in multi-player adventures with and against users from all over the planet. This is typically accomplished through the use of the internet, where users log into a central server through an internet connection, and then compete with other users through that connection. Obviously, then, if your connection is too slow, you simply will not be able to properly participate. Accordingly, gaming laptops must be complemented by a fast internet connection such as through a cable modem, DSL modem or even a fiber-optic system.

Gaming Laptop Game Controller

When computer games were first designed, it was perfectly accepted to use the mouse and keyboards to participate and “move” around the gaming environment. Those days are long gone. Today’s gamer uses highly evolved gaming controllers that are more advanced that the first computers were! With that said, you absolutely cannot skimp on this option and will need to shell out some bucks to get an appropriate gamer controller for use with your laptop.
