 You won’t have to keep the surroundings of the community free of insects and other pests, but you will be responsible for insects inside your home.  One of the best ways to accomplish this is too do your dishes daily, take your trash out regularly, and sweep, mop. and vacuum your floors accordingly.  If you leave food on the counter of leave your dishes in the sink, this will attract unwanted pests. 

 Your pantry is also another section of your apartment home that should be attended to.  All packages should be tightly sealed.  Remember that dark spaces are a haven for roaches, etc.

 Next you will want to wipe your stoves and counters down with paper towels and the appropriate chemicals. Also don’t forget the interior of the refrigerator and microwave. 

 Your bathroom should be the next place you attack. Mildew and mold can wreak havoc on your shower and tiles.  So use cleaners to best rid away the grime as best as you can.

 All the plumbing issues should be the responsibility of your landlord. But what about a leaky faucet? Read your lease contract for more details. Remember that standing water is a damage to your apartment home and can bring unwanted thirsty pests.
