Gas before a date

So you are getting ready for a big first date and then you find out that the broccoli and bean salad that you had for lunch are starting to take a toll on your body. Flatulence is a very normal bodily function, but when it shows its ugly face before a date it has the potential of becoming one of the most embarrassing nights in your life. You could choose to cancel the date or you could keep excusing yourself to go to the bathroom, but something needs to be done and it needs to be done fast. Here are some tips that will help you control gas before a date.

Gas Medication

You are probably too late to change your diet to stop flatulence, but the pharmacy has the solution for you. There are pills available which will help you control gas and they usually are pretty fast acting. Make sure that you take it at least a couple of hours before the date or with a meal if you think that the food you are having qualifies as “problematic”. Pills that help you with bloating and gas usually help you break down any vegetables that could be the culprit of your condition. If your problem happens when you have milk or lactose then look for lactase supplements.

Get Rid Of It

So we usually pass gas when we need to, so how could you possibly get rid of it? Before you go on your date you should start by kneeling on the floor and stretching your arms in front of you (not while your date is in the home or apartment please) relax and keep your buttocks in the air. This position is great for allowing the gases to leave your body. By acting proactively you are getting anything that is there out before you are in the car or the restaurant. If you need to excuse yourself and find a bathroom during your date you could do the same thing then.

Keep Air Swallowing In Mind

A lot of people do not realize that flatulence is happening not because of their diet, but because they are swallowing air when they talk and when they eat. Keep that in mind so that you (and your date) do not fall victim to the air that you are swallowing. To limit your air intake while you eat you should slow down. Those that are fast eaters are the ones that suffer from this problem the most so relax, and enjoy your meal. Another thing that you can do is to avoid gum before your date because while you are chewing gum you are swallowing air. Gum may give you fresh breath, but it has the potential to leave you not so fresh in other places. Smoking is also a bad idea as you are swallowing air when you do.

Home Remedies For Flatulence

There are some good home remedies for flatulence which can help. The first one is to keep some pineapple or papaya at home. Both of those fruits are great in helping with digestion. Another quick home remedy is to add two teaspoons of honey and two teaspoons apple cider vinegar to a glass of water and some lemon juice on the side; for that to work it you must have it after a meal. Other remedies are available, but they are less effective so only worth trying when the other ones did not work.

If your flatulence does not stop after attempting these steps, then it is better off to postpone the date.
