Exchange Server Database Utilities (Eseutil): Exchange Server Database Utilities or Eseutil.exe is a command-line tool that works with the Extensible Storage Engine, database files, and log files that are associated with an Exchange database. Eseutil can be used to verify, modify, and repair an Exchange database file. When a database is corrupt or damaged, you can restore data from backup or repair database using Eseutil.
Information Store Integrity Checker (Isinteg): It is used to find and eliminate errors from the public folder and mailbox databases at the application level. Isinteg is provided to assist in disaster recovery situations. As the Isinteg tool works at the logical schema level, it can recover data that cannot be recovered by Eseutil because data valid for the Eseutil tool at the physical schema level can be semantically invalid at the logical schema level.
In case of severe Exchange database corruption, these tools may not be helpful and you will need a good third party Exchange Server repair tool to repair .edb files. Using such a tool, you can effectively repair corrupt .edb files and store them in MS Outlook as .PST files. Later, an administrator can recover mailboxes, contacts and other information from these .PST files.
