How To Dry Lavender
Dried lavender has many uses from potpourri to using it in a vase as a pretty and somewhat fragrant decoration. If you grow lavender in your garden, you may want to dry some or all of it for future use.
Things You Will Need

Step 1
Cut the lavender a couple of inches below the flowers. Make sure you cut the lavender on a dry day. Do not cut it first thing in the morning because the lavender will still be damp from the dew.
Step 2
Tie the lavender in bunches around the middle. Do not make the bunches too large. There needs to be air circulation between the flowers.
Step 3
Hang the bunches of lavender upside down. Wherever you choose to hang your lavender to dry, needs to be dry and fairly dark. Too much light will cause the colors to fade. If the area is not dry, the lavender can develop mold and never dry properly.
Step 4
Leave the lavender hanging upside down for 4 to 6 weeks. When completely dry the lavender will break with a crisp snap.
Dried lavender has many uses around the home from freshen up odors to just looking beautiful as a dried arrangement.
