Things You'll Need:
*An issue that requires legal advice.
First of all, check with the company that you work for. Many companies offer this as a benefit for their employees. It is usually just a phone number that you can call to speak with a lawyer to get the advice you need. It is included with your benefits, and is no cost to you. It is really worth looking into.
If your company doesn't offer this benefit, you can also check your local news website. Here in Colorado, we have 9 News, and they offer Law Line 9, which is a phone line you can call in to get free legal advice from local volunteer attorneys. In Colorado, this is from 4-6:30 pm every Wednesday night. The number is (303) 698-0999, for Colorado residents. Check your local news to see if this is an option for you. You can also look up the website of your local new station and type in "legal advice" or "lawyer advice" in the search box. You may just find that your state has a similar program available.
Also, check your local news website and click on the community page or search for free legal advice. Some states have volunteer lawyers that can offer free or low cost legal help to low income people. You just have to prove that you qualify for it. Here in Colorado, you can look at the Metro Volunteer Lawyers.
