Weddings Underneath Niagara Falls: Romance Meets Adventure

By Edited May 29, 2016 0 2

Getting Hitched?

Weddings underneath Niagara Falls are real and before you spend weeks, months, or even years on stressful wedding arrangements, you should consider getting married underneath a waterfall. Are you planning the expensive wedding for yourself or to appease all your extended family members? Do you really want to spend all of that money on abusing your family members with an open bar or table favors that nobody really wants? A ceremony should absolutely be 100% for you and your spouse! Here is why you should consider Niagara Falls for a wedding adventure!

The Bridal Veil Falls

Niagara Falls offers several stunning locations for couples to take control of their
The Bridal Veil Falls
ceremony and tie the knot! One adventurous place in particular is the famous Cave of the Winds, located directly in front of the Bridal Veil Falls. According to Niagara Falls: With the Niagara Parks, Clifton Hill, and Other Area Attractions by Dirk Vanderwilt, during the 1800's the Cave of the Winds offered tour groups a popular chance to venture into an actual cave that lead behind the Falls. Unfortunately, several rockfalls and collapses rendered the original cave inaccessible and finally in 1955, intentionally destroyed to bring down a dangerous cliff. Although the name is obviously misleading, the current Cave of the Winds still offers tourists a close and personal view of the Bridal Veil Falls. And the best chance to get married and soaked at the same time!

To easily get married in front of these electrifying Falls, simply follow these steps:

1). Make Sure: This is what you want to do! Obviously, marriage is a very important event in everyone's life. Whatever meaning you have for getting married, be sure you are doing it for the right reasons! Otherwise, you are wasting your time and money. Schedule a date and be ready for the next phase of your life!

2). Connect with a Niagara Falls Wedding Service: You will need somebody experienced to do the ceremony, while making sure to take plenty of photos! Research services on the Internet. Read reviews for each wedding outfit that you find. Find out affiliated services through the Niagara State Park website. Make sure the services you choose are not a scam!

3). Be Prepared: Most wedding services will need at least a 25% deposit. This ensures you and your spouse commit to their services and certainly provides a sense of politeness and professionalism. Once you've made your choice, make sure you follow every instruction! Experienced wedding services will practically do everything for you, but you will still need to follow their every request to avoid your special day from going haywire.

4). Get There on Time With Proper Identification: According to the New York State law, you will have to wait 24 hours for your marriage license to be valid. That means, you MUST make your way to a courthouse to fill out the proper paperwork at least 24 hours before your ceremony is performed! Without a valid marriage certificate, there is a huge chance that your wedding service will NOT marry you.

You will need copies of your birth certificate, valid forms of identification, and any information about past marriages. It will also cost $40 dollars to file the documents. Without having this crucial documentation, your dream wedding will belly flop over the Falls. Sorry, awful joke!

5). Book: A hotel, motel, or tent! You need a place to stay! The Niagara Falls offers several hotels and casinos that have rooms for most price ranges. Always do your research before booking a room! Read reviews and on-line recommendations. Compare prices.

Several on-line booking services will generally be competitive and you might find a great deal. Prices will range anywhere from $60 to $350. Weekdays will usually be cheaper. And always remember that hotels will do whatever possible to fill their rooms each night, even giving out rooms at a fraction of their original rate.

6). Elevators, Tunnels, Torrential Waterfalls, etc.: Always keep in mind that you've picked a very beauty and electrifying national treasure to get married next to. But, you must be cautious. According to the Niagara State Park website, 75,750 gallons of water per second spill over the American and Bridal Veil Falls! That's a stunning amount of water crashing into jagged walls several yards away from you and your loved one.

Whether you are walking through the tunnel, on the wooden platforms, or creeping up to the Falls to get soaked by hurricane force winds, always be careful!

7). Common Sense: Since you will be wading next to a very large amount of water, be sure not to wear or bring anything that you would prefer not to get ruined. Cameras, phones, loose jewelry, etc. can all be subject to either be soaked or swept away. Nice clothes will get wet! Your wedding ceremony will be performed on one of several platforms that are out of harms way, but you should still protect your valuables. Thankfully, the Niagara State Park provides everyone with a bright yellow poncho!

8). The Ceremony: You've made it to the last step! You've sought out a Niagara Falls professional. Traveled to Niagara Falls, NY and found a great place to stay before and after your wedding. Embarked on a journey down a tunnel to the base of the cliff and are standing on a wooden boardwalk right in front of the Bridal Veil Falls. Enjoy yourself and every second of this special event! But, don't fret when you have trouble hearing part of your ceremony or if the wind picks up and blows your poncho into your face! It's all part of the moment!

Takeaway

Like so many other weddings underneath Niagara Falls, yours will be fun, thrilling, wet, and very romantic, so be sure to plan your adventurous ceremony before you schedule that lame, traditional experience.
