By | 0 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

So why would anyone need a sleep aid prescription? Well, the reasons are numerous. Naturally, anyone seeking such medication is having trouble sleeping. In most cases a sleeping aid that's only available via prescription is for serious cases of insomnia only. If you're suffering from a bit of jet lag or maybe some temporary stress due to work, these drugs aren't for you. If you experience chronic insomnia, though, you may need to talk to your doctor about some of the choices available.

Before doing so, though, There are a few things you can do to try and solve this problem without a sleeping aid prescription of any kind. Keep in mind that I'm not a health care professional. Some of these techniques have worked for me but that's not a guarantee of any kind. You see, every case of insomnia is a little bit different. You can read up about many causes and treatments online as there are an abundance of very good websites out there. At the end of the day though, you probably want to see your doctor so the two of you can come up with a solution that works.

Before trying any sort of medication to fix your problem, give these ideas some thoughts. How is your sleep hygiene? Here are a few things to make sure your sleeps are clean and healthy. Consider these methods natural cures for insomnia... The biggest one involves schedules and patterns. If you are the type of person that never goes to bed or wakes up at the same time, chances are you suffer from insomnia once in a while. Try to establish some kind of routine that sees you change this habit. You'll notice that your body will naturally learn when to be tired and when to be awake after only a few short weeks of regular sleeping patterns. How you spend the time leading up to your sleep is also an important factor to consider when looking for good sleep hygiene. You shouldn't be eating for 2 hours before you go to bed. This will ensure that by the time you hit the sack, your body is ready for rest! You can even increase the chance of relaxation by listening to some light music or reading a book before bed. Try not to exercise or do anything too stressful leading up to your bed time.

If you're convinced that you absolutely need to be medicated, don't be too quick to seek out a sleep aid prescription. There are plenty of drugs available over the counter that are suitable for most mild cases of insomnia. Look for a product called Nytol or Unisom. Both of these sleep aids are basically glorified antihistamines. They'll provide a bit of relief from transient insomnia. Even with these products, that are available without a prescription, it's important to contact your doctor before trying one. Sweet dreams!
