Everyone wants to have successful relationships, not just romantic ones either. We all have many different types of relationships throughout our lives; relationships with family, relationships with friends, and of course, romantic relationships. There are a few simple things you can do to ensure that all of your relationships are happy and healthy.

You've no doubt heard the expression that a chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. Well, the same can be said about a relationships. The relationship will only be as strong as the two people who are in it. For that reason, you want to do all you can to make sure your baggage is safely stowed so it doesn't hit you in the head if your relationship every encounters any turbulence.

So no matter what bumps you may have encountered in your life, make sure that you've learned to deal with them so that those issues don't continue to come back to haunt you in the future.

If you don't acknowledge your issues they will continue to come back and haunt you and make having successful relationship far more difficult.

If you don't think you have what it takes to deal with your issues, go to a counselor and get some help. Many people are reluctant to see a counselor for whatever reason; they think it's a sign of weakness or they are afraid to open up, etc. Whatever it is, having an objective third party who can help you work out things can be a great benefit.

Another simple thing you can do to ensure good relationships is to pick the right person. That may sound obvious, but most people will ignore obvious warning signs when they meet someone new just because they really want to be in a relationships. Being desperate will only work against you.

If you see warning signs in the beginning of a relationship it will most likely only get worse as things go. Best to get out of the relationship early on before you have an emotional connection.

More than likely if there are signs of trouble early in a relationship, it's likely to just get worse as the familiarity grows in a relationship. If that great new person is rude and impatient, it will most likely just get worse with time so it might make sense to bolt before you get too involved.

A successful relationship isn't just a matter of luck, it's a matter of making sure you are as good as you can be and trying to pick the right person by not ignoring warning signs in the beginning.
