Ozonator. It is recommended that you install an ozonator or ozone generator in your hot tub. This helps in reducing the contaminants that are dispersed in your hot tub water.
Oil and soap. Avoid using cleaners in your hot tub that contain a large amount of oil or soap. These elements have adverse effect on water chemistry. It is best to use spa cleaners and rinse it with large amount of water. When taking a dip in your hot tub, it is also recommended not to use products such as lotion, deodorant, skin cream, and other oil-based or soap-based products as these would mix with water in your tub.
Test the water. It is recommended that you test your spa water at least once a week. Check the alkalinity level and the pH level of the water in your tub. It is important that the alkalinity level and the pH level are within the recommended values so as not to affect water chemistry. Maintaining the right alkaline and pH level will protect your hot tub from the growth of fungus and other harmful bacteria.
