How To Make Baked Potato Soup

It's that time of year. The cold weather gets everyone in the mood for soup, but sometimes it can get pretty boring having the same thing every single night. Potato soup is great on its own, but this addition to the recipe will help make it even more delicious and enjoyable on those cold winter nights!

Instructions

Whether you are making it straight from the can or fresh, prepare your potato soup as you normally do. Once you have finished preparing the base, here are the things that you can add to it to give it a little more zest:

  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Bacon or imitation bacon bits
  • A dollop or sour cream
  • A small amount of margarine or butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chives
  • A dollop of cream cheese
  • Diced onions
  • Saltine crackers (crushed)
  • Tabasco sauce

Feel free to use any and all of these ingredients at your leisure. It will make it a treat to have this delicious meal once a week and it will taste like a loaded baked potato. I find that even adding a hint of hot sauce makes it even tastier. Even if you aren't a fan, I urge you to try it. This might be the one recipe that turns you into a Campbell's fanatic!

Soup is a great comfort food and soul food to many of us. There are so many different types and various combinations, toppings and possibilities to choose from. Not to mention replacing one meal a week with a bowl of soup instead is healthier for you. (Just think, even potatoes in this form is somewhat better than eating a bucket of french fries). There are many other great combos with other types that you can create. For instance, tomato goes great with cheese and crackers or peanut butter or even a grilled cheese sandwich. Chicken noodle is great with Saltine crackers and a little salt and pepper. Cheddar Cheese is great not only  right our of the can but also used as a sauce on chicken and pasta. You can make a great stew out of veggie soup by adding a few key ingredients to the mix. That's the magic of a can of soup. It truly is "a meal in itself".
