How To Make Milkshakes

By Edited Jan 19, 2015 0 0

Ever get the craving for an icy cold milkshake? It's certainly a nice way to start or even end a hot summer day. I personally tend to prefer a chocolate shake myself, but there are so many different flavors and combinations out there to try. The best part about them is that their so easy to make in such a short amount of time, not to mention they happen to be absolutely delicious. Here are just a few easy steps on how you can make a milkshake of your own...

Things You'll Need:

  • Blender
  • Milk
  • Ice Cream
  • Tall Glass (Straw Optional)
  • Syrup or Fruit of your choice

Step One: Add Ice Cream (3-4 scoops)

I would lean towards using vanilla ice cream in place of a preflavored one (ex. chocolate, strawberry, etc.) as these often have diminishing results on the taste of your milkshake. When adding the ice cream into the blender, take note that the more you happen to use the thicker the drink will be. 3-4 scoops should be ideal for most people.

Step Two: Add Milk (1 cup)

Too much milk will dramatically lower the viscosity causing the milkshake to be more on the runny side. If this happens, you can always add more ice cream to compensate for that. That being said, 1 cup of milk should give you a good balance on the thickness of your drink.

Step Three: Add Syrup/Fruit

There are many different syrups and fruits that you can add to obtain a desirable flavor of your choice. Listed below are only a few of the many possible drink combinations out there as well as the recommended amount to obtain a good deal of flavor for your shake.

  • Banana (1 cut up banana)
  • Vanilla (1-2 tbsp vanilla extract)
  • Chocolate/Strawberry Syrup (3-5 tbsp)
  • Blueberry/Raspberry (2 cups)

Step Four: Blend

Once you have your flavor of choice picked out, place all of the contents into the blender. Proceed to liquify for around 45 seconds to 1 minute, stirring in between if necessary as some of the contents may have a hard time reaching the bottom of the blender. Confirm that the contents are well blended and to your liking prior to serving to ensure that the milkshake is neither too thick or too thin.

Step Five: Enjoy

Pour the contents of the shake from the blender into your favorite tall glass and throw in a straw for good measure. Short, simple, and easy to cleanup. That's how you make a milkshake. Enjoy!
