If you love to do things on your own, you will want to learn how to make roman blinds for your home.

Before getting started, you need to have all of the proper materials to work with at your fingertips. Fabric is the most important item to have. Any fabric will do, regardless of the weight. You can also use cheap mini blinds that you may already have. This will save greatly on costs.

The other materials you will need to make the blinds are, scissors, measuring tape and fabric glue. With a list that small, it shouldn't be too difficult of a project to take on. And, after it's done, the rooms will be enhanced beautifully without spending a lot of money.

The first thing to do is to measure the window. The number of blinds used can vary, and can give them a unique look. If you have mini blinds, remove them and lay them out on the floor. Cut the horizontal strings but do not damage the vertical strings. Then remove the blinds that you don't want to use. Cut the fabric and be sure it is not creased before you do. Cut to the size of the blinds. Attach the fabric using the glue to the top blind of the cheap mini blinds. Do not glue the vertical cords to the fabric. Then the fabric should be attached to the blinds on the front and the back.

Keep doing this until all of the blinds are covered with the fabric. The fabric that is left will be used for hems. It needs to be folded and glued. A strong bar needs to be fitted at the bottom edge. This is all there is to it. The roman blinds are then finished for that one window. You can continue to do other windows to make even more rooms unique in their decoration. This is when it's fun to be creative.

When choosing the fabric color it should add to, not take away from, the whole look of your home's interior. Most of the fabrics used for roman blinds are woven wood, cotten, hemp, linen and silk. It's important to have a fabric that can withstand the exposure to sun, rain, dust or other particles. These blinds are used to block out heat and sun to make a room comfortable, not only beautiful. They can also be put in a gazebo.

You will receive many complements on the blinds from your friends. They may want to know how to do it on their own. If you get tired of a fabric, it can also be changed. It is creative fun and very economical to learn how to make roman blinds on your own.
