Let me just be clear about something, fear is a lie. It literally is a lie that turns you into a statue that stops you from doing whatever it is you are wanting to do. The reason I say this is because when we're trying to figure out how to overcome fear that is stopping us from continuing in something, it usually is because we don't know the outcome.

Think about this, are you afraid of something that has happened in the past? Notice I did not say the word, "traumatized".

Let me elaborate... if you're afraid of your child getting lost in a carnival full of strangers, are you still afraid after you leave and go home? Of course not. There is no possibilities of your child getting lost at the carnival anymore since you are not there now.

Fear is something that someone feels until the outcome of a situation comes to pass. We are only afraid until it's over since we know everything turned out alright.

It's understandable why so many people are afraid. They simply do not know the outcome. They do not know how negatively it will affect them so fear starts to take over inside of them.

The issue here is that until you have crossed the other side of the situation and experience the outcome, you will feel anxious, worried, and stressed out.

You need to learn how to overcome fear for when this happens in your life. If you do not, it could seriously hinder you from getting what you want.

1. Practice deep breathing

Now don't shut down on me just yet... we always hear this advice in one way or another. It seems too elementary but let me be honest with you, it absolutely works wonders!

This will be the easiest and quickest way for you to learn how to overcome fear when you're in a tough situation. The reason deep breathing works is because it forces your body to calm down for a bit.

Breathe in completely, hold for about 2 seconds, and then breathe all the ways out. Keep doing this until you feel more peaceful.

2. Visualize peacefulness

After you have practiced deep breathing, you should feel more relaxed and in peace. Now, you want to visualize yourself doing the activity that you fear the most in your head.

Visualize yourself doing the activity in a peaceful way just like your relaxed breathing.

When learning how to overcome fear, this is often an overlooked technique. Do not judge it just yet. If done right, this can seriously help you become fearless.

We attract what is in our thoughts. How do I know this? Have you ever thought how you became so afraid? It was through your thoughts. A negative thought that attracted fear entered your mind and you accepted it.

The good news is that you can do the same thing to be fearless! So in a focused way, visualize yourself doing the activity you fear in a relaxed and peaceful attitude.

Your feelings will follow this thought and you will noticed that you are not so afraid of it anymore.

3. Analyze what you are afraid of

One of the best techniques on how to overcome fear is found by simply asking yourself just how afraid you are about something.

Tell yourself, "From a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being the least afraid, and 10 being the most afraid, where am I at in the fear scale for this situation I'm dealing with?"

This forces the more "reliable" part of your brain to work. Our thoughts and feelings feed of each other which distorts the reality of just how severe something is.

So to get back to reality, analyze where you stand in fear on a scale of 1 to 10.

Work on lowering that number so that you are the least afraid. You can lower your fear by practicing the things we have already spoken about. Deep breathing and visualization.
