How To Quickly and Easily Install Common Freeware Programs in One Shot!

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

As anyone who has purchased a new PC knows, it is a pain to get it setup the way you like. Many of us use various freeware programs (iTunes, Firefox, etc) religiously, and downloading/installing each of these programs separately can be rather time-consuming. Fortunately, there is a tool which will allow you to download and install many of your favorite freeware software packages with a single download. That tool is called Ninite, and this article will show you how to use Ninite to install all your favorite freeware programs at once.

Things You Will Need

A Windows-based PC, Broadband Internet Connection, and Administrative rights to your PC.

Step 1

Ensure your Internet Connection is available and working. Open your web browser (Internet Explorer) and browse to http://www.ninite.com.

Step 2

On the page, you'll notice that applications are grouped together by their functionality. Put a check mark in the box beside each freeware application that you want Ninite to install. Remember, there are multiple software categories. Scroll down and check them all out as you may see something new you'd like to try!

Step 3

After you've selected all the applications you wish to install, click the "Get Installer" button at the bottom of the screen. You will be prompted for the location to save the Ninite installer file. Save the installer to a convenient location (such as your desktop) and then close your web browser when the download completes.

Step 4

Double-click the installer file you just downloaded. Ninite will begin downloading and installing each application you choose. (If you are prompted with a Security warning, click "Run")
Once everything is finished installing, you can click the "Close" button. All your programs will be accessible via icons on your Desktop and in the Start Menu.

Tips & Warnings

* The Ninite installer will install all the programs you selected to their default installation location (usually on your C: drive). * You can feel free to delete the icons from your desktop that you do not want. It will not uninstall the programs. * Ninite utilizes each programs individual installer file, meaning you can later uninstall each individual program from your "add/remove programs" list without uninstalling the entire bundle of software you installed via Ninite.
