How To Reface a Kitchen Cabinet

Having a kitchen cabinet is very handy in terms of storage and conserving space in the kitchen area. As well as space savers they can ad a sense of style and character to your kitchen area. After a few years your Kitchen Cabinet may need re-facing if it looks worn and a little tattered. Re- facing your kitchen will bring back that professional look and appearance as it looked the day you purchased it. This is a pretty straight forward project anyone can do all that's required is that you have all the tools necessary for the job ahead. This way you will get the job done much quicker and it will be a lot easier on you . This article will touch on how you can re-face your kitchen cabinet without too much fuss.

The first step you will need to do is empty all the contents of your kitchen cabinet. Using a screw driver carefully take off the hinges to the cabinet doors and remove doors and hinges. Proceed to take the drawers out of the cabinet. Begin to sand down the doors and the faces of the cabinet if the edges are not square then you can use a little route to square them off. Try not to over do it when sanding or you may loose the shape and have to resort to over using too much route. Begin to fill in the screw holes with wooden dowel covered or coated in wood glue, this will harden and also strengthen the frame of the cabinet.

 Using a tack cloth clean away any debris and dust from the surface of the cabinet do a good job as this will prepare the cabinet for painting or coating. After you have added the new coat of paint or laminate , for precaution mark off where the doors and hinges are to be placed . To make the job look more professional put on new hinges and screws to ad a little flare. All you need to do now is place your drawers back in along with all the contents that was in your cabinet and there you have it you have just converted your kitchen cabinet back to it's former glory.  Refacing a Kitchen Cabinet should take you less than a day, the waiting time is mostly waiting for the paint to dry than anything else and with the right tools anyone can do it.
