How To Safely Drive In The Snow

By | Feb 5, 2010 | 0 Comments | Rating: 0

Safely driving in the snow can be difficult, and if you are not careful it is easy to lose control of your car and get into an accident. This article will guide you on how to safely drive in the snow.

Things You Will Need

To follow the guidelines listed in this article on how to safely drive in the snow.

Step 1

The first step to safely driving in the snow is to turn into the skid if you lose control of your car. What this means is that if you car starts skidding to the left do not jerk your steering wheel to the right(your tires will have little chance of regaining traction if you do this). If your car starts skidding to the left then turn your steering wheel to the left until your tires can regain traction.

Step 2

The second step to safely driving in the snow is to slam on your brakes and hold your foot down with maximum pressure if you have anti lock brakes(which virtually all cars have). Some people with anti lock brakes pump their brakes, this is defeating the purpose of anti lock brakes, anti lock brakes do this for you when you depress the brake pedal(if you do not have anti lock brakes then you would pump the brake pedal).

Step 3

The third step to safely driving in the snow is to keep a bucket of sand in your trunk. If you become stuck throw some sand under your tires so they will be able to establish traction and you will be able to get out.
