Step 1

The first step to showing your young children you care about them is to provide discipline when they behave in a bad manner. This may surprise some people, but when children test you, and you do not react, this shows them that you are not very concerned with their behavior and what they do. When you discipline your child when they are wrong this sends a message that you are concerned, and that you are monitoring their behavior because you care about their well being(even if they may disagree with the reason you are disciplining them).

Step 2

The second step is to engage in activities with them. This means more than just making your young children dinner and asking them about what they are learning in school. Taking them to a baseball game, a movie, or a picnic are ways that you can show your young children you care about them and want to spend time together.

Step 3

The third step to showing your young children you care about them is to have a nightly ritual of some kind with them. For example, you can tuck them into bed every night, read them a story, or bring them a glass of milk before they go to sleep. A consistent ritual will show your young children that you are thinking about them every day.

Tips & Warnings

Raising children is not an easy task, even in rough times remember that your children are looking to you for guidance and love.
