How To Stay In Touch

By Edited Oct 12, 2015 0 0

It can be hard to stay in touch with the people you love. Life gets busy, even chaotic at times. Days pass, turning into weeks and then months. Before you know it, a whole year, and then several whole years have gone by. If you are not careful, you can lose touch with people you would never imagine losing touch with. Here are some tips to prevent that from happening.

Things You Will Need

You will need a strong desire to stay in touch with different people from various times in your life.

Step 1

Join online social networks. Even if you are over forty, you might be surprised to learn just how many of your peers are members or online communities such as Facebook. These are great ways to get back in touch and then to stay in touch with people from your childhood and any other important chapter in your life (high school, college, graduate school, first job, etc.) It is a lot of fun to catch up with old friends, especially when you first join a social network like Facebook. Inevitably, the novelty will wear off after a while. But even after the novelty of the experience is gone, you will still treasure the fact that you reconnected with all of those people from your past.

Step 2

Don⠀ ™t forget email. Perhaps online social networks are not your cup of tea, or maybe you like them but you prefer to stay in touch in other ways as well. Email is another great way to stay in touch with old friends, especially on those occasions when you do not have time to make a phone call.

Step 3

Speaking of the phone, remember to call your old friends from time to time. Sometimes you need more than online contact (on Facebook, for example, or by email). Sometimes only a good old fashioned conversation will do the trick. When you feel the urge to call, give in to that urge. Life is short, after all. We all need each other in this crazy world. You will be pleased you called.

Of course, the best way to reconnect with your old friends is in person, whenever you can manage it. This is the most challenging type of visit to arrange, but it is well worth your time and effort, especially if you have not seen each other in years.

Tips & Warnings

Staying in touch can be a challenge, especially if you have a busy schedule, but it is important to make your relationships with other people a top priority.
