Social media is the cause of both drama and excitement in people’s lives. You’ve probably seen the cycles, whether you’re on Facebook, Twitter, or even Google+. But there are actually a number of ways that you can use social media to your advantage if you use it on a regular basis. Here are some hints that can really help you out when it comes to using those websites on a regular basis.

-       If you have a lot of relationships with people from around the world, Facebook and Twitter can be a great asset to those friendships. Use it in such a way that it helps to build up those relationships, instead of causing problems. But, make sure that you also find balance in your relationships – don’t use social media as your only form of communication; meet face to face, call each other on the phone, etc.

-          You can be in touch with companies or products that you enjoy or use on a regular basis. Almost every company that exists has some sort of online presence, and if they are using it correctly, you’re going to be able to find good deals, have useful interactions, and learn more about the products you love before other people may discover them. Sometimes, you can even get customer service concerns addressed more quickly than you would if you contacted them via email or on the telephone.

-          You can make yourself look great for potential employers. As much as you don’t like to admit it, your employers are likely going to find your online presence. By putting your best foot forward, you can impress potential employers who may be looking at your social media profile. Your social media profile doesn't have to be squeaky clean, but keep it relatively clean and professional, especially the parts that are made public.

If you keep all of these things in mind while you are using Facebook, Twitter, and other similar sites, you have a better chance of being successful in your relational pursuits.
