Things You Will Need

PC
iPod USB cable

Step 1

If this is your first time signing onto your iPod, itunes will prompt you automatically. You need to download itunes first, before you can begin putting any songs to the device. Connecting your ipod to your computer via the USB cable that it came with will help you to automatically be able to sync your ipod to itunes.

Step 2

Next, you are going to open up the itunes software. Click on the itunes store to view the wide array of songs and movies that they offer.

Step 3

Choose any song from the list that may look like something that you would enjoy to listen to. There are songs that are free, and some which costs close to 99 cents. Make sure you peruse over all the songs before making a selection.

Step 4

After you have made your selection you will see the song downloading right on the screen of your IPod.

Step 5

You will then be prompted to put the songs you downloaded into a playlist so you can easily access them at a later time.

Step 6

One mistake that many people make in downloading songs to their Ipod device is not allowing the download to finish completely. If you halt the download in the middle of what it is doing. The song will then become corrupted and you will have to discard it and start all over again.

Step 7

Once your download has been completed successfully simply hit "Eject" and remove the ipod from its charger position.

Step 8

When you want to do further downloads, after your first trial run, you have to add files to the library and sync your ipod.
