We all have dreams such gaining promotion, passing a qualification or finding that special someone to share your life. However when you are not making the progress you want to, it all seems too much trouble and many will quit because of lack of will and motivation.
But do not despair, there are simple ways that anyone can put into practise that guarantee you can achieve your goals.
1) Define your goals.
Saying I want to earn more money is too vague, how much more money do you want to earn? 10 - 25 - 50,000 dollars a year? If you are specific in your goal you will know what job to aim for. If you want to lose weight, how much weight? Set a target you can realistically reach such as lose one stone. Once you have a clear idea about what you wish to achieve you can create a simple plan that is easy to follow. This will continue to motivate you as you begin to achieve your goals.
2) Have a clearly defined plan.
Some tasks seem too overwhelming which makes it hard to imagine you can succeed. But using a simple plan to break your goal down into manageable chunks makes the task much easier. For example, to write a 150 page book is a mammoth task, but by breaking it down it is not so overwhelming. Write a sentence, then a few more and you have completed a paragraph. A few paragraphs later you have a page. Repeat the process and you build the first chapter. Not quite so daunting now. The same principle applies with anything you wish to accomplish in life. Break the goal down in to manageable parts, achieve the first part. This can help motivate you to achieve the next part and begin to see you moving towards complete success.
3) Take logical action and monitor progress.
All the wishing in the world will get you no where but frustrated and unhappy. Positive action will help you gain personal development. When you have a clear idea of what you wish to achieve, the next part is to set steps to accomplish your goal. If you want to learn a language, join a class and attend each week, buy a course and work through it in sections etc. If you want promotion at work, why should you get promoted over someone else? Take on other duties and responsibility, stand out from the crowd and show your worth. Want slim down? Look at your diet, start cutting out junk food, sweets, cakes, begin walking and being more active. These tips for life are small logical steps in the master plan to achieve your goals. They will actually work once you begin to put them into action.
The same principles outlined above can be adapted to any given situation. It works because if its simplicity. Decide what you want, break the tasks into small pieces and achieve it in manageable steps. As you begin to make progress the results will be small but see this as a positive sign of moving towards your eventual success. There is the saying which goes roughly,
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step"
Take that first step and keep going and you can and will achieve you goals.
