How to Achieve Your New Years Resolution and Lose Weight by Walking

Decide on how much weight you want to lose and how fast you want to lose it. On average a leisurely stroll (3 mph) of 60 minutes will result in approximately 235 calories burned for a 150 pound woman. A pound of weight is 3600 calories. If you walk every day for an hour you will lose close to 2 pounds a month or 25 pounds a year. If you walk longer or faster you will lose more.

Step 2

Fit in walking every day. Though an hour a day of walking sounds like a lot, you can break it up into 4 mini walks of 10 minutes each or 3 walks of 20 minutes each. This is a great way to achieve your New Years resolution and lose weight walking.

Step 3
