How to Appreciate Barrack Obama

By | 3 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

With politics aside, there are tons of reasons to appreciate the first African American president of the United States of America. He won the election with about 53%. People of all races and all of over the world celebrated his win. This article will help you appreciate the man in the white house.

1. Think and talk about why the election between Obama and McCain meant to you. If you were not in support of Obama, it is not the end of the world. Him being president may not be the catastrophe some people lead it out to be.

2. Read a little about African American history and some of the things that occurred. Remember when the African American race were slaves and not considered a human being. There was a time when it was illegal to teach African Americans to read, write, marry and vote.

3. Barrack Obama was not the first black person to run for President. Here is a list of others who tried to run but lost to another candidate:

1972: Shirley Chisholm lost the Democratic nomination to George Wallace.
1984: Jesse Jackson lost the Democratic nomination to Walter Mondale.
# 1988: Jesse Jackson lost the Democratic nomination to Michael Dukakis.
# 1988: Dr. Lenora Fulani won the nomination from the New Alliance Party and became the first African American candidate to be listed on the ballot in all fifty states.
# 1992: Dr. Lenora Fulani won the nomination from the New Alliance Party.
# 1996: Alan Keyes lost the Republican nomination to Bob Dole.
# 2000: Alan Keyes lost the Republican nomination to George W. Bush.
# 2004: Al Sharpton, Jr. lost the Democratic nomination to John Kerry.
# 2004: Carol Moseley Braun lost the Democratic nomination to John Kerry.

I appreciate your effort, but their are a few accounts in which you are mistaken. The glaring one, of course, is that Obama is actually not a black man, but Mulatto. And, he's not even the first Mulatto President. Second, Obama is already becoming the catastrophe that some made him out to be. Third, no one living today was alive at the time of slavery, so none of the readers will be able to remember that far back, however an in-depth study of the area will show that slaves were, in fact, considered by a large majority to be human beings. And, finally, nothing within your article helped me to appreciate Obama.

I did, however, appreciate that you made the effort to pool a list of past Presidential candidates that happened to be black.

"in-depth study of the area will" I made a typographical error. Where I wrote "area", that should have been "era".
