How to buy gold is the main obstacle that keeps many people from doing it, but it is actually very simple. First decide on how much and what type of gold to purchase. Gold comes in many forms and is easy to buy. So don't wait any longer jump into gold and make a wise investment.

Gold Coins:

Some examples of gold coins are the U.S. Gold Eagle and Gold Maple Leafs of Canada. Both are readily available and are high quality coins minted by the governments of the United States and Canada. Many dealers around the nation carry both, so purchasing them is very easy.

Knowing the Coins:

Most coins are one troy ounce and the cost varies based on the gold spot price and the year of the minted coins. If you are looking for pure bullion any gold coin is fine, but for collectors there are many factors that determine the value of the coin.

Other Forms of Gold:

Gold also can be purchased in gold bars, but these are very expensive. Of course gold also comes in jewlry form, but that is less an investments as it is a gift.

Planning:

Setting up a plan of investment. Like any investment develop a plan and build from there. Set a budget on the amount to spend on gold. Do not buy gold on credit and use only cash on hand to purchase gold. Next vary the gold, by buying both bullion and collectiable coins.

Keeping the Gold:

Plan on storing the gold in a safe, secure place. Often this means a safe deposit box in the local bank. Remember the spot price per troy ounce for gold has stayed in the $900-$1000 range, meaning any amount of gold is extremely valuable. Keeping them inside a private residency could be risky.
