How to Buy the Best Bluetooth Headsets
Dress your ear with a Bluetooth headset...
The Bluetooth is a clip-on wireless headset that communicates over a narrow
range 2.4 GHz radio frequency.
Plantronics Voyager 520 came in tops with Consumer
research for the best buy for an inexpensive Bluetooth headset. At around $45
this headset offers reasonable comfort and a good quality of sound so long as
you avoid wind. The range was a bit disappointing and the size a bit bulky, but
it offers a great product for the price.
USA Today magazine, along with customers and many
technical reviewers rate the Aliph New Jawbone as the best choice in quality,
sound, comfort and all 'round value for a Bluetooth headset. At $105 it is not
the cheapest, but you are getting your money's worth.
The Motorola H350 Bluetooth headset didn't make the
Consumer Search Ratings, but customers at epinions.com liked it as an inexpensive
choice. Its estimated retail price has been about $45.
Laptop magazine liked the lightweight Jabra BT3010
for its color-changing headset designs. It can't compare in sound quality,
comfort or ease of button use to its more expensive competitors, but for the
cheapest Bluetooth headset retailing at around $25, this Jabra rates
surprisingly well.
Plantronics Voyager 855 rates well for comfort and has stereo sound capabilities for listening to music. Unfortunately the music sound quality isn't great, but the voice quality rates high for talking. At around $70 the Plantronics Voyager 855 offers a convenient Micro-USB connection. CNet.com and PC Magazine both rated it high on their review lists.
These are just some ratings and reviews. Estimated prices are more like median prices since you will find a lot of variation as you shop around.
