How to Care For Solar Security Lighting
Solar security lighting can bring a lot of benefits to business owners and individuals alike in terms of security their property and establishments. It is therefore justified that they should be maintained, kept clean and well-taken care of.
In caring for the solar panels included in the solar lights system, make sure to check for cracks in the glass covering. Once the covering becomes destroyed, the whole panel is now vulnerable to the elements, which can shorten its lifespan. If the glass is still in good shape, you must still give it a good cleaning to remove debris and dirt. An extremely dirty solar panel won't be able to soak up the sunlight needed to make the system work. For dirt that seems to stick, you can use any commercial dishwasher and warm water to scrub it away. Be careful when using abrasive cleaning materials and do not apply too much force as it may break or scratch the glass.
More care is needed when cleaning the LED solar security lights, as it is less straightforward compared to cleaning the solar panel. Most people just leave the lights alone and only check up on them whenever the lights burn out. However, certain objects like grime and dirt accumulating on the lights may cause certain features of solar security lighting like motion detection and photocell technology to not work properly. Aside from cleaning the surface of the light, one may use a Q-tip or a rolled-up paper towel to reach nooks and crevices.
Because of its sophistication, solar security lighting systems are very expensive and to not care for them not only means making them ineffective at what they do, but it can mean a shorter lifespan for the system itself. Just taking the time to regularly check out your light's condition can keep you from having to buy a new one so soon.
