How to Choose a Juicer
Find the juicer you need...
Choosing a juicer can be difficult. There are so many styles and brand names. You don't want to waste your money getting the wrong one. In this article, we'll look at the different types of juicers and answer some questions that will help you decide which one is right for you.
Decide what you want to juice. If you only want to make fresh orange juice for breakfast, you'll need a different kind than you would if you want to juice kale for example.
Set a budget. Before you even start looking decide how much you're willing to spend. Juicers come in a wide price range. The type you need will also help determine how much you'll have to spend.
Find out about the different kinds of juicers. They come in four varieties.
There are citrus juicers. The name is pretty self-explanatory. I'm sure you've seen these before. They can only be used to juice citrus fruits.
Centrifugal juicers are on the cheaper end of the scale. The downside to getting one is that you can't use it to juice greens. It's loud and it doesn't efficiently extract nutrients from fruits and vegetables.
Masticating juicers are mid-level juicers that chew up the food to get the juices out of it, hence the name. They are better at extracting nutrients from food.
Twin gear juicers are the best at extracting nutrients from fruits and veggies. They're also pretty expensive. If you're juicing for health this is the juicer to get. It's slow though and tends to get clogged up when juicing soft fruits.
Look closely at these factors: price, versatility, nutrient extraction, yield, clean-up time, and noise level.
Read reviews. Find out what others are saying about the juicer you're most interested in buying.
Shop around. Compare prices at stores and online to get the best deal possible.
Look for sales. There are always sales going on. Try shopping during holidays. Stores usually offer good sales during holidays.
