By Edited Jun 8, 2016 1 1

Changing your kitchen floor tile can totally change the way your room looks and functions. You can makeover the rest of the room such as the cupboards with a little bit of paint. However, it's a difficult to change kitchen flooring. This is why you want to spend a little bit more money and get a neutral tile that will work with a lot of different designs. Here are a few tips for finding the best kitchen floor tiles for your needs.

Find a tile that you can live with for a long time. This usually means that your title should be neutral in color as well as style. This doesn't mean that it has to be boring or plain. It can be a hassle to take out and reinstall so you want to make sure that you pick a design that you can live with for a long time. You can always bring in fun colors like red or blue on the walls and then pair them with your favorite ceramic or stone color.

Consider durability. Some stones such as slate can be very uneven in its natural state. It might work as a flooring option if your construction workers really know what they are doing. However, it can also turn very unfortunate with a lot of different levels that you can stub your toe on. This kind of a natural stone might be better suited to a backsplash or a wall where the imperfections won't matter as much but you'll get all of the color. You can also find a ceramic tile that will bring in the same color palette but it will also be easy to clean and take care of as well as more cost effective.

Cheaper tile isn't always better. If you do decide to go with a vinyl tile you want to make sure that it's installed properly. If you don't really clean your floors before lying it down the adhesive might not stick. You also want to be very careful to match up your tiles and keep straight lines so that it doesn't end up looking messy or poorly installed.

The best kitchen floor tiles work with any theme in your home. A honeycomb tile has a very vintage look to it. Plus, you can use it with white or black appliances as well as white cupboards. This will give a neutral room a specific design style without spending a lot of money.

You might want to go with that ceramic tile just because it's very cheap and easy to take care of. However, this doesn't mean that your kitchen flooring can't be special. You can just vary the size of tile. An extremely large tile will feel very high end. You can also just lay the title on the diagonal so that it forms a lot of diamond shapes instead of a traditional line of tiles. However, this will require a lot more material and labor as compared to a traditional tile. This is simply because you'll have to do a lot more cutting but you might find that the elegant look worth is well worth it in the end.
