This will be the only way you can determine where to place the solar lamps. The lights will need to have direct sunlight for most of the day in order to retain a charge into the evening. If the remote section you want to light has no direct sunlight you will not be able to have the look you are expecting. Planning is the only way to know where each solar lamp should go.

Consider the style of your home and garden before purchasing the outdoor solar lights so that the style matches. Modern lights in the garden of a cottage may not blend well and may look out of place.

Be creative with your lighting. Now there are lamps that look like animals and gnomes as well as large garden rocks, you can make choices that were not available just a few short years ago. Considering all types of lights will help you make a decision so that the lights you choose will blend in with your garden but reflect your personality as well.

LED lights or Light Emitting Diodes are the most advanced and newest technology in outdoor lighting. These LED lamps have different colors available and although clear is the most common there are amber lights that give a more golden glow to the garden.

ince this is your garden, remember to use your own sense of style in making your final decisions on solar powered lighting.

Tips & Warnings

When you are placing the lamps, it is important to know that the top of the solar light should be protected from being hit with a mallet or hammer, as this will damage the solar battery.

When placing the lights the best rule of thumb is to place them no more than 2 feet apart so that the lights will be consistent along the pathway. When placing them on both sides of the walkway, the 2-foot rule is still best.
