Choosing the right fragrance is important, as other people can learn a lot about your personality from the fragrance that you wear. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon to test a fragrance at the store and fall in love with it only to find out later that you don't like it as well as you previously thought. Many factors such as the oils on your skin and humidity in the environment influence the reaction that occurs when you test the fragrance on your skin. The good news is that with a few tips, you can choose the right fragrance to reflect your personality.

Step #1 - Consider your body chemistry when choosing a fragrance. Each person has a different body chemistry, which interacts with the fragrance you use. For this reason, you may like a fragrance when someone else is wearing it, but when you use it, you may not find the fragrance as appealing.

Step #2 - Sample the fragrance on your wrist.  Wait a few minutes, and smell your wrist to see if you still like it. Do this a few times to make sure that you still find the fragrance attractive.

Step #3 - Keep in mind your age when choosing a fragrance. Fragrance designers generally create fragrances with specific age groups in mind. For example, soft, sweet fragrances generally attract young consumers. Fragrances with Asian or woodsy scents are appropriate for the 30 and older group, as these reflect self-confidence and experience.

Step #4 - Choose a fragrance that makes you feel good about yourself. If your favorite fragrance puts a smile on your face, it's the right one for you.

Step #5 - Test various fragrances at a department store. Once you choose the right one for you, look for discounted fragrances online. Consider sites such as FragranceNet.com  or Sentiments.com. You can often save 70 percent or more on designer fragrances. This is a good way to enjoy your favorite fragrance without paying full price.

Discounted fragrances do not equal cheap perfume. Many online sites and stores carry designer fragrances - the only difference is the price. When choosing a fragrance, keep mind that it will refelct your personality and that the wrong fragrance could send the wrong message about who you are.
