How to Clean Grout
If you are fortunate enough to have tile in your home, then you will have to know how to clean grout. Tile itself is extremely easy to be kept clean by just using some common household cleaners and sprays. Very often, these cleaning solutions will do a great job on the grout as well. That said, there are times when it may require a more thorough cleaning.
One extremely effective way to clean even all colors of grout is the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. This grout cleaning product resembles that of a sponge, but it definitely doesn't act like one. All you need to do is wet it, wring it out as much as you can, and then proceed to scrub away at the tile grout!
If the floor tile grout is moldy or has mildew, then you will need to use a solution that contains bleach in it. You may choose to buy a commercial product that has bleach in it, or you can always choose to make your own solution with equal parts bleach and water. Just spray the cleaning solution with a spray bottle, and scrub away using an old toothbrush. Of course, if your kitchen or bathroom floor tiles don't have any bright white grout, then you should refrain from using the bleach!
To remove really tough stains on your grout, you can try talking to a local tile dealer. Chances are they will have tile and grout cleaning solutions which are stronger and they can also advise you on how to clean tile grout in those situations.
Once you have your grout sparkly and nice, you will have to seal it. Many people do not realize that it is necessary to reseal grout on a regular basis. If you do not keep up with this, you may well find it chipping away over the years. You can easily find a grout sealer in the tile and grout section of your local home improvement or hardware store. It will usually come in a bottle along with a brush applicator, or you can find it in bigger quantities, in which case simply follow the instructions given by the manufacturer.
If the grout isn't worth saving…if you discover that it's worn out or chipped away, then it is pointless to learn how to clean floor tile grout, and it is time for you to regrout your tile. This is a simple process in which you will dig out the old grout, apply the new one and seal it. It will take you quite a few days to follow through with all the steps and learn how to clean bathroom grout, but once you have it in and well-sealed, keeping it clean will require minimal effort and time!
