Whether you plan of buying expensive or cheap 20 inch rims, it is greatly important that you know how to effectively maintain them. Keep in mind that investing on custom-made or pre-manufactured automotive rims entails a considerable sum of money. Therefore, in order to make the most out of your rim investment proper care and maintenance is absolutely required. This is because they tend to accumulate dirt and debris over time. So, if you want to preserve their beauty you should be familiar on how to efficiently take care of them.

Since rims are produced from different materials (i.e. 20 inch chrome rims), you have to be aware on the recommended products that can be used to clean them. There are different cleaners to choose from, each of which is formulated to address different cleaning needs. Hence, be sure to select the one that is applicable for the type of rims you have.

When cleaning your 20 inch rims and tires, it is best to always start with the tires first. This is highly advised because when you wash off the dirt on the tires they tend to fall down on the rims. Thus, you have to completely remove all the attached debris on the tires so you can thoroughly clean the rims after. After you have cleaned the tires, you can now start degreasing the rims. Use an effective degreaser that will loosen the accumulated grease build up on the rims' nuts and bolts. You should also pay careful attention to other areas where grease is likely to accrue.

Never leave the degreaser too long on the rims as this may cause irreversible damage such as discoloration. Wipe off the degreaser right after all the grease on the rims have been removed. Next thing to do is to wash the remaining debris by showering them with water through the use of a garden hose. Thoroughly clean every corner of the rims to ensure that all dirt, grimes and grits have been effectively eliminated.

Once you are done washing the rims and tires, you should dry them off with the use of a clean cloth. Make sure that before wiping them, they are already free of any forms of dirt and other debris. When the rims are completely dried, you may now apply a rim wax or polisher to introduce a glossy shine. There are lots of waxing and polishing products which you can use to protect the attractive finish of your rims.

Follow these simple yet effective tips on how to properly clean and maintain your automotive rims in order to preserve their beauty and ensure their long-lasting shine!
