Hello iPod Users,
If many of you are like me, then you are constantly on the go. I’m always running from place to place but want to be able to watch videos that are on my computer with my iPod. Well thanks to a friend’s recommendation, I learned how to convert videos into an MP4 format and place them onto my iPod’s “Movies” folder.
To begin, download RealPlayer Converter and start the installation process. Before downloading this application, I used to use Leawo iPod Converter but I found that sometimes the audio was out of synch with the video, once the file was converted.
Once the program is done installing your system, left click it and open it up. Once the Converter window is open, you can either drag the video file over from another window or click on the “Add” button at the top, to find the file on your system.
Once you have found the file and selected it, you must now choose “Apple iPod” underneath “Convert to”. Once you have done that, you can now click on the “Save In” tab and choose where on your system you want the MP4 to end up. Once you have selected a destination, click on the “Start” button and the process will begin. At the bottom of the window, you will see an estimated time of how long the process will take to complete, as well as how large the file will be, once completed.
When the process is complete, another small window appears and prompts you to copy the file into iTunes automatically. Once the file is in iTunes, it will appear in the “Movies” category. Select the file and then drag it onto the “Movies” category on your iPod. When it is done copying to your iPod, eject the iPod from iTunes and enjoy!
The drawback of this software is that it can take a very long time, depending on the size of the video file. Also, if you are using your computer to run multiple programs while your video is being converted, forget about it! It will take forever. My advice is to start the conversion, when you are not using the computer at all. For me, the best time to start the conversion is when I am asleep. This is the only time when I am at home when I am not using my computer. This also gives me a nice present in the morning, when I am finally awake.
