Decorating for Easter can be fun, as it is also a celebration of Spring. There is nothing more uplifting and cheery than colorful decorations, and learning how to decorate Easter eggs for fun.

The typical egg may not be very big, but the unbelievable combinations of designs that you can apply to that simple white egg is amazing. Everything from the detailed designs of the Ukrainian eggs to the simplistic designs that young children can apply to eggs.

Learning how to decorate Easter eggs, is simple. Don’t break the egg! Once you have mastered hanging onto the egg without breaking it, then the rest is a blank canvas. If you make sure and wash the egg well before it is blown out, then the shell will be free of greases and will take most paint, and dyes and glues no problem.

Make sure your hands are lotion free while handling your delicate egg shell, and then let your imagination go. But if you really don’t like the idea of coming up with your own designs, but really want a conversation piece, then try decoupage.

This is a fun way to decorate Easter Eggs. You need to find a image that is on very thin tissue paper, and the best way to do that is to search through the printed napkins at the store.

Once you have found a printed napkin, try and take away the layers that are behind the print. Blow on the edge of the napkin and the layers should separate. You want just the layer with the image on it. Once you have done that, then you need to cut out the image to the size for your egg very carefully.

Now take some decoupage medium. You can get this in most craft stores, but you can make your own by mixing 2 parts of white craft glue to 1 part of water well, and then using a soft brush, paint this glue mixture on your blown out and clean egg shell, and then take your tissue paper thin image and place on the wet glue area.

Now take your soft paint brush and gently push out any air bubbles. You can put on a few images if you wish. But then do a layer of the glue mixture or decoupage mixture over the glued down image.

Let it dry for the day. Then take some water based varnish (water based will not yellow the whites in your project and is soap and water washable for the paint brushes) and go over your image with at least 3 coats of either Matte or Glossy depending on the sheen you want for your egg.

Now you can display your project! You could also try this with photographs, if you can get them copied onto thin paper, it can be transferred to the egg. These can make great conversation pieces.

So, if you want to learn how to decorate Easter eggs, then just get your imagination working. You can create some amazing gifts or keepsakes this Easter while decorating your simple little white egg.
