How to Detox Your Liver and Colon

Colon cleansing is among the most popular of detoxification methods of alternative medicine. Detoxifying your liver can also have health benefits such as lower cholesterol levels, a boosted immune system and ease of digestion. Colon cleansing has many health benefits such as a lack of irregularity in bowel movements, lowering the bad bacteria in the intestinal tract and less chances of contracting IBS or Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

Things You Will Need

· Cold water

· 12 ounce glass

· Multivitamin for men or women, whichever suits

· Probiotics or yogurt

Step 1

Fill the 12 ounce glass full of cold water, and take the recommended dose of your multivitamin as soon as you wake up daily. You will do this routine for a total of 2 full weeks to complete the cleansing. During a detoxification process of any kind, the body is deprived of nutrients that it normally gets from food, so the multivitamin is essential to a healthy lifestyle.

Step 2

Eat 1 container of yogurt daily or take 1 probiotic pill daily with a full 12 ounce glass of water. Probiotics are the good bacteria in the bowels and digestive tract that can be too low when cleansing and detoxifying the colon and liver. Antibiotics can raise the bad bacteria numbers and kill off the good bacteria that causes regular bowel and liver functions.

Step 3

Drink 10 glasses of water a day from a 12 ounce glass. This keeps the body hydrated and will alleviate the hunger that comes with detoxification. The body normally craves carbohydrates during detoxification, so it is important to watch your intake of starches and sugars during this 2 week period.

Step 4

Exercise daily by walking around the block of your home, or running for a total of 20 minutes. This will help to speed the vitamins through your system and boosts the immune system as well as strengthens the heart. The heart muscle can be weakened by a lack of vitamins, and it is essential that exercise that raises the heart rate be done daily for a minimum of 20 minutes to help keep up strength. There are detoxifying aides on the market for use at home. Be wary of using things that do not list ingredients, or that are not FDA approved for this use, as they can have bad side effects on other parts of the body.
