How to Easily Access Diabetic Supplies at Home
You can easily access diabetic supplies at home by keeping them organized. Keep everything you need in close proximity to each other. Diabetes is difficult enough to live with without having to search all over when the time comes to take your insulin or test your blood.
Buy a pouch. There are pouches on the market today that can store all of your alcohol pads, testing strips, glucose monitor, lancets and small notebooks for documentation. Some also come with ice packs to make traveling easier and keep your insulin with your supplies.
Buy a see through plastic school pencil pouch if you can't find a pouch designed with diabetics in mind. You can also purchase small ice packs separately for when you are on the go.
Place everything you need inside the pouch to access diabetic supplies easily. You may find it helpful to also keep a plastic baggie and a folded paper towel in there to place used supplies in, especially if you are traveling.
Determine the safest and most convenient spot near the refrigerator, where your insulin is kept, to keep your pouch. Keeping everything together will make it so much easier to access diabetic supplies when they are needed.
