These are tough times for several people around the world, and it looks as though several of us want to have comfort food. There are some time tested comfort food recipes mentioned below which will bring back grandma, home as well as comfort to your mind. Baked Chicken'N Butter And Cream
flour- half cup
salt- one and half tsp
paprika-half tsp
pepper- one fourth tsp
chicken- for frying- 1 sliced
butter- one fourth cup
hot water -one and half cup
non fat dry milk powder- half cup
Oven should be preheat to 350 degrees.
Immerse the chicken pieces in tap water. Mix flour, salt, pepper and paprika in a pie pan or a shallow bowl. Take out the pieces from water, sand roll them in this mixture after getting rid of extra water. Take a 13 x 9-inches baking dish and put chicken parts, skin down, in it. Drop some butter on the chicken and bake it at degrees 350 for half an hour or till it becomes golden brown. Mix dry milk powder with hot water till it gets smooth and pour it over the chicken. Use an aluminum foil to cover it and bake for an hour 15 minutes or till the chicken is soft.
Ethel's Waldorf Salad
Unprepared red apples- two cups diced
Lemon juice- two table spoons
Mayonnaise- half cup
Finely sliced celery- one cup
Walnuts broken - half cup
Raisins seedless - half cup
A few lettuce leaves for decoration
Prepare approximately an hour before serving:
· Place, toss diced apples, one tablespoon of mayonnaise and lemon juice and in a medium basin and refrigerate.
· Just prior to serving, take it out from the fridge and put in celery, left mayonnaise, raisins and broken walnuts. Mix everything well and dish up on four salad plates. Position a few lettuce leaves on each plate and put the Waldorf salad over it.
It serves 4 people.
Miz Effie's Sour Cream Chocolate Cake
I really don't know who was Miz Effie, but here is the recipe.
Flour – two and half cups
Baking soda -two tea spoons
Sugar -2 cups
Salt - a pinch
Cocoa -3 table spoons
Sour cream -2 cups
Eggs -4
Vanilla essence -1 tea spoon
The oven should be preheated to 350 degrees. Now sift the cocoa, salt, flour and sugar together and mix in eggs, vanilla and cream. Blend it well and pour it in a large 9x13 baking pan which has been floured and greased. Bake for about 45 minutes on 350 degrees.
Frosting:
Sugar- two and half cups
Cocoa – two table spoons
White syrup – one and half table spoons
Cream – three-fourth cup
Butter –two table spoons
Vanilla
The initial four ingredients have to be cooked to a soft ball consistency then mix vanilla and butter and vanilla. Let it cool for 45 minutes prior to beating and pouring over cake. Don't stir till it has been cooled for around 45 minutes.
If you have milk and cream, this cake recipe is easy and good.
