Learning how to erase credit card debt is not as difficult as people make it out to be. The main things that you need are a well structured plan, a bit of effort and a lot of determination. While it may seem hopeless now, you can work your way out of debt and back to having the life you have always wanted.

Things You Will Need

All you need to erase credit card debt is a well organized plan and a lot of effort.

Step 1

Only Purchase Items When You Have Cash - Using your credit card is what got you into trouble. You need to break this habit if you are ever to become debt free. Make a rule that you will only buy things in cash. If you do not have the cash, then simply do not buy the item. Only after you have mastered this step should you proceed to the remaining steps.

Step 2

Make a Budget - Make a list of all of your monthly expenses. Include things such as your mortgage or rent, utilities, gas, food, clothing, entertainment, cable TV, etc. Prioritize these items into one of three categories; necessary, important and discretionary.

Items that are considered necessary must be paid first. These include your mortgage, food, gas & transportation and power bills. If you have money left over after paying these bills move on to the important bills. Important bills are items such as insurance and/or doctor's bills. These items should be paid monthly but are not as vital to your survival as necessary bills. Finally, any remaining money should be allocated to discretionary bills. If you run out of money paying these bills then it is time for a few budget cuts.

Step 3

Make Budget Cuts - What expenses do you have that you could do without? Can you live without cable TV or 5,000 minutes on your cell phone. Remember that getting out of debt will take some sacrifices. If you want to erase credit card debt you must be able to look beyond the short-term and think about your future.

Step 4

Snowball Your Credit Card Debts - Once you have made the necessary budget cuts, start paying off your credit cards. Pay the minimum amount of each debt except for the smallest one. Attack this debt aggressively. Any extra money that you can find apply towards this debt until you have completely eliminated it.

Now move on to the next smallest debt. Continue to pay the minimums on all the remaining debt except for the new 'smallest' debt. Take the amount that you were paying on the old smallest debt and apply that on top of the amount you are sending to the new smallest debt.

Using this technique will really help you get out of debt faster.

Learning how to erase credit card debt is not difficult once you establish a plan. Take these steps and implement them in your life. You can become debt free if your start NOW!
