Do you have trouble drifting off to sleep at night? It happens to the best of us-here are a few quick ways you can fall asleep quickly and start enjoying your Z's faster.
If you want to fall asleep quickly, don't eat anything a couple hours before you go to bed. Fatty and sugary food will keep your stomach up late hours doing the digestive work. Your stomach may in turn punish you by making it harder to sleep.
Electronics may prevent you from falling asleep quickly-don't use any of your electronics a few hours before you plan to fall asleep. Bright LCD screens (and lights in general) trigger your brain to stay alert and awake. As you prepare to lie down on your bed for the night, turn off the electronics.
To fall asleep quickly, don't work or read in your bed. Doing activities other than sleeping in your bed (or bedroom for that matter) sends a mixed signal to your brain. Quite simply, you want your brain to be able to connect bed with sleep.
To help your body fall asleep quickly at night, get in your proper amount of exercise during the day. This will use up your energy and make your body want to recharge at night. There's nothing like a good night's sleep after a long day of hard work!
Make sure your body is comfortable when you are sleeping. If you are comfortable it will be much easier to fall asleep quickly at night. Oust any pets or noisy partners that may prevent you from falling asleep quickly. Often times you don't have to make compromises on your good night's sleep.
Plan to fall asleep around the same time every night. Your body builds itself a schedule and knows when it should be sleeping and when it shouldn't. Don't try to rob your body of the sleep it needs.
