How to Find Bargains on Luxury Travel

By Edited Oct 30, 2016 0 0

For most of us, the perfect vacation is being spoiled- waited on hand and foot in a luxurious resort setting. Unfortunately, most of us feel that we just can't afford that kind of vacation. You CAN live like the rich and famous and get a great deal to boot! Here's a few tips to help you get a bargain on your luxury vacation.

Luxury Getaway
The easiest way to save is to travel in shoulder or off season. Hotel rates as well as airfare are at their highest during peak season. Shoulder season is that 1- 2 month period just before and after high season; when the weather is still great but you can save a bundle. These price breaks apply to cruise rates and airfare as well.

Head Massage
Ask for it!! Sounds easy doesn't it? You'll be amazed at what you can get just by asking. Especially if you are traveling at a less busy time of year. Book the less expensive room, and ask for an upgrade. Or ask for a lower rate on that suite. Are you on your honeymoon? Let the airline know and see if they'll give you a first class upgrade. Don't be afraid to ask for better.

Room View
Consider a less popular destination. St. Croix, St. Lucia, St. Barths: these are some of the most popular Caribbean resort islands - and some of the most expensive. In contrast, you can get twice as much for your money on Margarita Island off the coast of Venezuela. Do you enjoy Europe? Try the Czech Republic, Hungary or Romania for great deals on luxury resorts.

First Class
Use your hotel points and frequent flier miles. Save up those hotel points on your business/weekend trips and use them on a splurge at the chains luxury brand hotel. Use your frequent flyer miles to upgrade to first class and start that vacation off on the right Gucci-clad foot! Yes, you CAN take that luxurious vacation you've always dreamed of.
*If that 5 star restaurant is just too pricey, go there for lunch, appetizers and drinks or dessert and coffee.
*Keep in mind that luxury is more about the service and amenities you receive and less about the cost attached to it.
