How to Find Your Passion and Boost Your Self-Motivation

By Edited Jun 30, 2014 0 0

If you’re having trouble motivating yourself to take action in a particular area of your life it may be because you haven’t found your passion.  It’s too difficult to get motivated about something that you don’t have an interest in or something that you’re bored with.

On the other side of the coin, if you’re extremely passionate about something you can’t wait to get it done.  This is especially true about your work/job.  If you love your job you can’t wait to leave the house in the morning and the time goes by really fast during the day.

How Do You Find Your Passion?

What would you do with your life if money was not an issue?  What would you do for free if you had the opportunity?  Would you travel to exotic countries or would you stay at home with your children?  What do you dream about during those quiet moments when you’re alone and deep in thought?

Something else you can ask yourself is what do you enjoy talking about the most?  Most people talk about having to do chores or problems they are having at work, etc.  What would you seriously enjoy talking about for hours at a time that wouldn’t require any special effort on your part?

For example, I enjoy talking about and reading self-help books.  We all have an opportunity to accomplish what we want if we motivate ourselves to take action.  Your time on this earth is limited.  How is your life going to end?

A woman who worked with terminally ill patients reported the majority of the people she talked to before they died said that they wished they had followed their dreams.  So it’s important for you to really focus on what it is you want to do with your life before it is too late.  Yes you!

What's Easy for You to Do But Hard for Others?

Most professional athletes make it look easy.  Do you ever wonder how a running back in the NFL can run so fast and outmaneuver the other players on the field?  How about boxing champs?  They make it look incredibly easy to throw punches to knock someone out.

Take a moment right now to write down all of your unique skills and ask yourself if that’s something you could do for a living.  Be honest because no one is going to see that paper but you, but it is something that has to be done if you’re going to find your passion.  Don’t hold anything back even if you feel that something is small or insignificant.

Finding your real passion won’t happen overnight, but if you continue to ask yourself the questions in this article there will come a point when you’ll just know what you want to do with the rest of your life.

Finally, try to realize what’s important to you and engage in those activities.  If you want to change your life you may have to change your circle of friends.  Anthony Robbins said, “You have to surround yourself with successful people that are already doing what you want to do.”  Find better friends who will help you move towards your goals today.
