By | 1 Comments | Rating: 0 | |

When you get hurt at work, you should immediately try to find a worker's compensation lawyer. Most companies will do all that they can to avoid paying claims. This is just a business move and you should not let it deter you from receiving the care and compensation you deserve.

Ask your union representative who the union uses as a worker's compensation lawyer. You will probably be provided with a list of  lawyers. Ask the union representative for any statistics they have on the lawyer's success rate in your type of case or in general.

Ask family members and friends if they know of a reputable worker's compensation lawyer. They may know of one or know someone who has been through a workman' s compensation case that would be willing to give you advice. Sometimes word of mouth is the most reliable and effective advertising there is. Don't pass up this resource if it is available to you.

Ask the lawyer that you contact for their history with these types of lawsuits. Determine how much experience they have with your particular type of case. In order to effectively represent you, they should be familiar with your type of injuries and work place environment. Take notes in your initial meeting.

Compare the notes you have written and decide which of the lawyers you feel will best represent you. Make sure you are also comfortable communicating with the workman's compensation lawyer you choose.
