Finding the cheapest car insurance may seem a bit challenging. Many people do not want to take the extra steps necessary to lower car insurance rates. Car insurance can seem unusually high.  Lowering the monthly rate can offer more income to pay for climbing gas prices.

If you could save five or more percent off your auto insurance premium would you be willing to try? Even if there was a recent accident, traffic ticket, or parking violation there are ways to cut car insurance rates. Here are a few tips to help you save money on your car insurance. 

Step 1

Call the insurance company. Ask specifically how to cut the car insurance rate.

 Step 2
Mention the name of your employer, spouses employer, and alumni affiliations.  Ask about extra discounts available for high school students.

Step 3
Ask for rate reductions for taking defensive driving or continuing education classes.

Step 4
If organizational or student discounts are available ask how the company prefers the information sent in. This could be via email, postal mail, or by faxing in proof of enrollment or membership within an organization. Promptly send in all identifying information that is necessary to receive the discounts.

Step 5
Take the approved defensive driving class and send in proof of completion. Some states will give added discounts for ongoing driver education. Take these courses  online or in local driving schools.

 Step 6
Contact the car insurance company at last three times a year, to ask for more ways to low car insurance rates. Ask for discounts for paying the annual car insurance rate at one time instead of with monthly payments.

Step 7

If the rate is still too high, complete an online quote. This will bring up a different companies that may have lower rates. If the advertised rate is lower consider switching. Once the company issues the policy contact them by phone, and repeat the  steps one through six.

Schedule fifteen minutes to a half hour to actively find ways to cut car insurance prices. Always take immediate action to send it paperwork and to take educational courses.  Use this  formula to experience lower annual car insurance prices.
