Computer knowledge has become absolutely essential to both the working world, and every day life functioning. A lack of computer skills makes everything unnecessarily harder than it has to be, including getting a job. In fact, computer literacy has become a must for nearly every career opportunity out there. Fortunately, there are a number of institutions and services that address the need for computer training, and many of them do it for free.

Many community colleges offer courses that provide computer training classes at a free or minimal charge. The computer training is short, cost effective, and helps an individual quickly update computer skills. Many computer classes are offered in the evenings and can easily fit into a busy schedule. For the most convenience, look to online computer classes.

There are also many different free online computer training websites, and they cover every computer program imaginable. If you do well with independent learning, free online computer training may be a great option for you.

Look into your local community college's course schedules under titles such as "community learning", where you will often find classes which are meant to boost basic skills of the local labor market.

Many different community focused institutions offer classes to update computer knowledge that are free to the public. One example is the Goodwill computer training program which offers classes with instruction for commonly used applications such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and also help accessing email accounts. Do research in your area for organizations that provide computer training for the public.

Computer skills make you more employable, and also make life as a whole much easier (when you know how to use them). There are many different resources available, exhaust them!
