How to Get Rid of Acne with a Simple at Home Remedy

By Edited Nov 13, 2013 0 0

Those of us who have had it want to get rid of acne fast. As soon as it starts flaring up, many people's first instinct is to wash your face over and over. The irony is, when you remove TOO much oil from your skin, you will make it dry and irritated, but you can't get the oil and residue deep in your pores. Then your pores make MORE oil to attempt to hydrate your irritated skin, which is not a good acne solution. On the other hand, using home remedies for acne is a much better acne solution because if you have the treatment in your medicine cabinet already, obviously you can start using it right away.  So if you'd like to get rid of acne with a simple at home remedy, read on.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:
• Toothpaste (not gel)

Wash your face in the morning as you normally would. You can use a facial cleanser that is designed for oily skin to help get rid of acne before using an actual spot treatment. I do not recommend putting on the toothpaste just yet as an acne solution, if you are planning to go to work or school, because it will stay noticeable.
Wash your face at night, before you go to bed. Again, washing more than twice per day is not a good acne solution; it's actually counterproductive for helping you get rid of acne. However you do want to wash at night to remove any makeup or accumulated dirt and grit that inevitably accumulates over the course of a day.  Next, squeeze a small amount of toothpaste onto your index finger. Put a tiny dot on a pimple. The dot should be no more than twice as big as your pimple.

Repeat the toothpaste acne solution in step 3 for 2 more pimples. Then gently rub the toothpaste in, in a circular motion. Fifteen gentle "circles" should be plenty. You should see a translucent white circle of toothpaste, smaller than a dime, on your skin to know you're done. If it's bright white, you used a little too much of this home acne treatment. If it's invisible, you may have rubbed too much of it off, so apply a little more to help get rid of acne.

Wait. See what happens overnight. The reason I recommend you only do this for 3 pimples the first time, is because you want to make sure that it doesn't overly dry, or irritate your skin. Take it from a girl who went to school with a red swollen face one day after an attempt to get rid of acne!  Remember that a spot acne solution is just that; it's meant for a small spot, not your entire face, and you should be fine.   Then the following night as you repeat steps 2 and 3, you can try this home acne treatment on a few more pimples.
