Terro Liquid Ant Bait Is The Best Way To Get Rid Of Ants In The Kitchen
They are little. They are mean. They do not go away. And try as I may, I can only find two good purposes they serve, neither of which seems all that great to me.
- Their colonies are miraculous expressions of nature's ability to be orderly and protective.
- Some people eat them.
Of course I am talking about ants. And unless you make your living studying them or selling them for food, you probably would not mind seeing them wiped out. Whether they are outside building mounds, getting in your garden, and biting your kids, or inside crawling on your kitchen, they are unwanted visitors. And while we may never be able to get rid of ants outside your house, there is a great way to answer the question of how to get rid of ants in the kitchen.
Enter Terro Liquid Ant Bait
Terro Liquid Ant Bait was something my wife and I tried after living for about a year with little black ants crawling all over our kitchen counter and sink. Previously we had done everything we could think of to get rid of the ants. We did our best to keep our sink clean, bleaching it every couple of days. We scrubbed our counters down every night. We made sure not to leave dishes in the sink overnight.
However, all it took was to place one little dish or cup in the sink, and the ants would be back, marching around like a high school band on Friday night. We had heard that Borax killed kitchen ants, so we spread some Borax around. But the ants just looked at it, laughed and walked around the powder.
Finally, while at Lowe's one day I decided to go buy some ant bait. They had about 5 brands to choose from, and I was so fed up with the ants that I was immediately drawn to the expensive ant baits, thinking they would be the answer. But fortunately, thanks to the miracle of the smartphone I checked out reviews of the available ant baits, and everyone raved about that little orange inexpensive box in front of me. It seemed easy enough to use so I bought a box.
How to Use Terro Liquid Ant Bait
Other than making ants go MIA, the best thing about Terro Liquid Ant Bait is that it is so easy to use. It comes in a tube of gel-like liquid that you squirt on a piece of cardboard (the box allows you to tear off cardboard squares). You squirt about a nickel-sized puddle of ant bait and wait for the magic to happen.

Credit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/fhgitarre/We placed about 6 square of ant bait around our sink and counter and waited. And waited. We even saw one little ant crawl out toward the sink. We tried to coerce him to the ant bait, but he just scurried around it. We thought we had struck out again. Boy, were we wrong.
About an hour later we checked on the baits, and it was like an ant convention. Apparently that one lone ant called 5,000 of his closest friends and they soon joined the party. It was amazing to watch Terro Liquid Ant Bait in action. Every puddle of gel was covered in ants. It was like crack for those pesky little insects. For the rest of the night each square piece of cardboard was crawling with ants - literally. You could almost see that the ants wanted to use their mighty strength to carry the entire cardboard square back to the queen like conquering heroes.
And then, the next morning, silence. No ants to be found. We had read that the key to Terro Liquid Ant Bait was that it took about 24 hours to totally do the trick. What the ants do is feast on it and then carry it back to their homes. My wife and I thought that maybe the ants were just taking a break and they would be back the next night, but no, they did not come back that night. Or the next night. We left a couple of other squares of ant bait just in case, but they were never needed. The ants were gone for good.
It has been about 4 months since the ants dined on Terro Liquid Ant Bait and they still have not returned.
Okay, So It Worked For Me. Will It Work For You?
All I can say is that my parents and my in-laws were also having trouble with ants in their kitchen, so we gave them our ant bait to try. Both homes are now ant free. I guess I cannot guarantee that Terro Liquid Ant Bait will work for you, but it gets perfect reviews on Amazon and it worked like a charm in three home in my family.
How To Buy Terro Liquid Ant Bait So You Can Get Rid Of Ants In Your Kitchen
I bought my ant bait at Lowes. I imagine you can purchase it at just about any hardware store. You can also buy it online at Amazon. It also comes in other versions, like in trays and powder form. However, I wouldn't mess around and would just get the liquid gel bottle that you squirt onto cardboard. Credit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dbgg1979/3772766196/
A great advantage of the Terro Liquid Ant Bait over other brands and styles of ant killer is that it is quite inexpensive. The price was the biggest reason I was reluctant to buy Terro in the first place, thinking that there was no way something this cheap would work. If Terro works for you like it did for me, you will be thinking you got a steal. I cannot believe that after all the frustration my wife and I put up with for a year, it was just a $5 box of ant bait that solved our problem.
